About this policy
This policy explains how SLE Trading Pty Ltd (ABN 19 640 361 119) (“SLE Trading”, “we”, “us”) delivers orders and how you can collect them. Please read it together with our Terms and Conditions.
We take orders in two ways, and some rules apply to only one of them:
- Online store orders are orders placed and paid for through the checkout on our online store at sletrading.com.au.
- Trade orders are orders placed with us by phone, usually after an enquiry, quote request or trade account application through our trade website.
Where a rule applies to only one type of order, this policy says so.
Nothing in this policy limits your rights under the Australian Consumer Law.
Delivery options
- Pickup (all orders). You can collect your order from our warehouse (see section 13).
- Site delivery (trade orders only). We deliver to building sites direct.
- Same-day delivery (trade orders only). Same-day delivery is available for some trade orders. If it is available for your order, we will confirm that when you place the order.
- Australia-wide shipping (online store orders only). We send online store orders mainly by Australia Post. We also use other carriers, including DHL, Toll, Allied Express, TNT, Smart Send and E Go.
Delivery areas
- Online store orders: we deliver Australia-wide. Australia Post Express Post is not available in every area.
- Trade orders: we supply builders within roughly 100km of our Sunshine North warehouse. If your site is further away, contact us to talk about your options.
Delivery charges
Delivery charges vary by the weight of the order and the delivery location.
For online store orders, the delivery charge is shown at checkout or confirmed by us before dispatch. For trade orders, we confirm the delivery charge before dispatch. Either way, you will know the charge before your goods are sent.
Delivery timeframes and delays
We will call you to confirm when your order is ready for dispatch or pickup.
Online store orders sent by Australia Post: Regular Post generally takes 3 to 5 business days, and Express Post generally takes 1 to 3 business days. These are Australia Post’s estimates only, not guarantees.
Trade orders: we confirm the expected delivery timing when you place your order.
All delivery times are estimates. Some delays are outside our control, such as carrier network delays, severe weather or delays from our suppliers. If we become aware of a delay, we will let you know.
If delivery is more than 10 Business Days later than the estimated date we gave you, you may cancel the undelivered part of your order and get a full refund of what you paid for it (see clause 10.3 of our Terms and Conditions).
Tracking your order
Online store orders sent by Australia Post: Australia Post emails you tracking updates when your order is dispatched, while it is in transit, and when delivery is expected.
All orders: you can contact us with your order number at any time for an update.
Back orders and part deliveries
If an item is on back order, it usually takes 2 to 4 weeks to arrive.
By default, we dispatch your order once every item is in stock.
If you would rather receive the in-stock items first, just ask. We will send those items straight away, and the remaining items will follow as they arrive. If sending your order in parts involves an extra delivery charge, we will tell you before we send anything.
If you no longer want an item that is on back order, see section 14.
Delivery to building sites (trade orders)
When you place a trade order for site delivery, please tell us:
- the site address and any access instructions;
- the name and phone number of the person who will receive the goods; and
- anything that affects delivery or unloading, such as restricted access, height or weight limits, or heavy or bulky items.
You must make sure:
- there is safe and suitable access for the delivery vehicle;
- someone is on site to receive the goods, or you have told us where to leave them; and
- the goods can be unloaded safely.
Our driver may decline to unload where it is unsafe to do so (see clause 10.5 of our Terms and Conditions).
Delivery to homes, units and businesses (online store orders)
We can’t ask Australia Post to leave parcels unattended.
If you are delivering to a unit, a high-rise building, an office or an address that is hard to access, please give us delivery instructions when you order. We will pass them on to the driver.
When risk passes to you
Once risk passes to you, you are responsible for any loss of or damage to the goods. Risk passes when:
- the goods are delivered to your delivery address;
- you collect the goods from our warehouse, or your own carrier collects them; or
- you collect the parcel from the post office, if Australia Post has taken it there.
This follows clause 10.8 of our Terms and Conditions. It does not affect your rights if the goods were faulty or damaged before risk passed to you.
Checking your goods and reporting problems
Please check the goods as soon as they arrive or when you collect them.
If you can see damage when the goods are delivered, tell the delivery driver if possible.
Please tell us about any damage or missing items within 2 Business Days of receiving the goods (see clause 10.9 of our Terms and Conditions). Email us with:
- photos of the outer packaging and of the damage; and
- a short description of the problem.
Reporting quickly helps us fix the problem and claim from the carrier. If you notice a problem later, still tell us. You won’t lose your rights under the Australian Consumer Law by reporting late.
Our Returns and Refunds Policy explains what happens next.
Failed deliveries
Online store orders sent by Australia Post: if no one is available to receive the parcel, Australia Post takes it to your local post office and leaves a card in your mailbox. If a parcel comes back to us, contact us to arrange another delivery. We will confirm any extra charge before we resend it.
Trade orders: sometimes a delivery can’t be completed, for example because the site is inaccessible or no one is there to receive the goods. If that happens, we will contact you to rebook. If there is a cost for redelivery, we will tell you before we rebook (see clause 10.5 of our Terms and Conditions).
Pickup
Our warehouse is at 154 McIntyre Rd, Sunshine North VIC 3020. Pickup hours are Monday to Saturday, 9am to 5pm.
